While I am not suggesting that we should ALWAYS replace these traditional assignments, I do know that when students climb up the SAMR ladder, more features are possible to help them reach higher order thinking skills. Remember, it is about the USE of the app, not the app itself that can raise the thinking skill level. Also, many of these apps/programs can shuffle around the matrix depending on use, or even combined for greater effect.
